The supply of commercial LPG cylinders is set to improve across the state following an increase in allocation from the central government, according to Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar.

Addressing a press conference in Vijayawada, the minister said the additional quota will help ensure better availability of gas cylinders, especially for hotels and hospitals that rely heavily on commercial LPG.

He clarified that there is no shortage of essential fuels such as petrol, diesel, or LPG in the state. Temporary delays in cylinder deliveries were mainly due to a surge in bookings triggered by rumors, which created a short term backlog.

The government is currently supplying around 2.70 lakh gas cylinders daily and is taking steps to streamline the distribution system further. Consumers have been advised to use online booking with OTP verification to receive cylinders conveniently at their doorstep.

Taking a strong stance against malpractice, the department has registered 146 cases related to illegal storage and black marketing, seizing over 4,285 cylinders during enforcement drives.

The minister also highlighted that out of 4,510 fuel stations in the state, only a few are facing temporary issues due to dealer level concerns, while overall supply remains stable. Diesel supply has been increased by 8 percent and petrol by 2.40 percent to meet demand.

Efforts are also underway to expand piped natural gas connections, with a target to bring one lakh new consumers under the system within the next three months.

Assuring the public, Manohar stated that the government is closely monitoring the situation, especially in light of global uncertainties, and is committed to maintaining uninterrupted supply across both urban and rural areas.
