LPG Prices Rise Again Commercial Cylinder Rates Hiked While Domestic Prices Stay Stable

Commercial LPG cylinder prices increased sharply from April 1 amid global tensions while domestic LPG petrol and diesel rates remain unchanged offering partial relief to household consumers across India.

  • LPG prices hike hits commercial cylinder users
  • Commercial LPG price crosses Rs 2000 mark
  • Domestic LPG prices remain stable for households

Commercial LPG cylinder prices have been increased once again from April 1, delivering another blow to businesses even as household consumers get some relief. The latest revision has pushed the cost of a 19 kg commercial cylinder up by Rs 195.50, taking the price close to Rs 2000 in several cities.

In Delhi, the revised rate now stands at Rs 2078.50, reflecting the impact of global market fluctuations. The hike comes amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia, which have disrupted energy supply chains and increased pressure on fuel prices worldwide.

While commercial users such as hotels and small businesses will feel the burden of rising costs, domestic LPG consumers have been spared this time. There has been no change in the price of 14.2 kg household cylinders, offering some relief to families already dealing with inflation.

This is the second consecutive hike in recent weeks. On March 1, the price of commercial cylinders was increased by Rs 114.50 following the outbreak of conflict in West Asia. Earlier, on March 7, domestic LPG prices had been raised by Rs 60, after which they have remained unchanged.

Public sector oil companies including Indian Oil Corporation Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum revise LPG prices every month based on international benchmarks and currency exchange rates. The latest revision reflects global trends while balancing domestic concerns.

Meanwhile, petrol and diesel prices have remained steady despite the global uncertainty. Fuel rates have not changed since last year when a minor reduction was announced. This stability has provided some comfort to vehicle owners even as LPG prices continue to fluctuate.

The contrasting trend highlights how global developments are influencing commercial energy costs more directly, while the government is trying to shield household consumers from frequent price shocks.
