In a major push to modernize public healthcare, Telangana is preparing to introduce Health ATMs across government hospitals after a successful pilot phase demonstrated promising results. These advanced machines are designed to deliver rapid diagnostic services, significantly cutting down the time patients spend waiting for basic tests.
The initiative is part of the state government’s broader effort to make healthcare services faster and more accessible. Officials believe that deploying Health ATMs in hospitals with high outpatient footfall will ease pressure on doctors while ensuring patients receive timely medical attention.
During the pilot phase, the machines were installed at King Kothi District Hospital and Malakpet Area Hospital in Hyderabad. After operating for two months, the results were closely evaluated and found to be accurate and reliable. Authorities confirmed that test outcomes from these machines matched those from private diagnostic centers, boosting confidence in the technology.
Each Health ATM is capable of conducting up to 132 medical tests within just two minutes. These include essential health checks such as blood pressure, oxygen levels, body temperature, height, and weight. The machines also support rapid testing for conditions like malaria, dengue, cholesterol levels, blood sugar, ECG, and urine analysis.
Equipped with integrated medical technology, the system scans patients and generates instant reports without requiring direct doctor involvement for initial screening. Additionally, it creates and stores digital health records, allowing patients to track their medical history efficiently.
Another key feature is the ability for patients to consult with doctors through the system after completing tests, ensuring continuity of care. This combination of speed, accuracy, and convenience is expected to transform patient experience in government hospitals.
With the pilot proving successful, officials have already submitted a detailed report to the government, and plans are underway to expand Health ATMs to more hospitals across the state. The move is expected to reduce overcrowding, improve diagnostic efficiency, and bring quality healthcare closer to the public.
