In a significant development for the aviation sector, Air India Chief Executive Officer Campbell Wilson has stepped down from his position, sources confirmed. His tenure, which was originally set to run until July 2027 under a five year contract, has come to an early end.

Wilson took charge as CEO and Managing Director of Air India in 2022, bringing with him more than three decades of experience in the global aviation industry. His leadership came at a crucial time as the airline was undergoing transformation and expansion efforts.

Before joining Air India, Wilson held key leadership roles at Singapore Airlines and its low cost subsidiary Scoot. He served as the founding CEO of Scoot and later returned for a second term, showcasing his strong association with the airline.

His career began in 1996 when he joined Singapore Airlines as a management trainee in New Zealand. Over the years, he worked across several international markets including Canada Hong Kong and Japan, gaining extensive operational and strategic experience.

In addition to his leadership at Scoot, Wilson also served as Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing at Singapore Airlines. In this role, he managed critical areas such as global sales pricing distribution ecommerce and brand strategy.

Wilson holds a Master of Commerce degree in Business Administration from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. His professional journey reflects a deep understanding of both full service and low cost airline operations.

His resignation marks a notable transition for Air India as the airline continues its efforts to strengthen operations and compete in the global aviation market.
