The Andhra Pradesh government has announced special Aadhaar biometric camps across the state starting April 15 to address a large number of pending registrations. Officials said the drive is aimed at clearing backlog cases and improving Aadhaar coverage in all districts.
The camps will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will run from April 15 to 18, followed by the second phase from April 21 to 24. These camps will be organized at Swarna Grama and ward secretariat offices as well as Anganwadi centers across Andhra Pradesh.
According to officials, more than 12 lakh biometric registrations are still pending in the state. District level analysis shows that Kurnool, Nandyal, Tirupati, and Visakhapatnam have the highest number of pending cases, making them priority areas for this campaign.
Special focus will be placed on students aged between 15 and 17 years, especially those studying in junior colleges. Authorities want to ensure that students complete their biometric updates without delay.
Apart from biometric registration, the camps will also provide new Aadhaar enrollment and other related services. District officials have been instructed not to divert digital assistants and other staff assigned to these camps to any other duties.
To support smooth operations, the government will release funds for Aadhaar kit mobilization at each center. Women police personnel will also be deployed to maintain order and provide security during the camps.
Officials believe that with coordinated efforts across districts, the initiative will significantly reduce the backlog and ensure timely Aadhaar services for citizens across Andhra Pradesh.
