In a strong move addressing alleged misconduct, the Telangana High Court has directed a detailed investigation into irregularities within the Hyderabad Cricket Association. The court ordered that a Special Investigation Team under the CB CID should take up the probe to ensure a thorough and impartial inquiry.
The case came into focus following a petition filed by a local cricket club, which raised serious concerns about administrative lapses and possible corruption within the association. Taking note of these allegations, the court issued clear directions to initiate a structured investigation process.
As part of its orders, the court also placed the functioning of the cricket body under the supervision of Justice Naveen Rao, who will oversee its administration through an apex council mechanism. This step is aimed at restoring transparency and ensuring that governance follows proper norms.
During the hearing, Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka observed that autonomy does not place any institution beyond judicial scrutiny. He stressed that courts will step in whenever there are credible allegations of corruption or mismanagement to uphold accountability.
The court further instructed all officials and staff associated with the cricket body to extend complete cooperation to the investigating team. With these developments, the issue has once again drawn public attention, highlighting concerns over governance standards in sports institutions.
