Motorola Launches Moto G87 With 200MP Camera and Advanced Waterproof Design
New mid range smartphone focuses on pro level photography, strong durability, and immersive display while offering a large battery and next generation software experience for everyday users

Motorola has introduced its latest mid range smartphone, the Moto G87, bringing a strong focus on camera performance and rugged durability. The device stands out as the company’s first phone to feature a 200 megapixel primary camera, aiming to deliver professional grade photography in everyday use.
The Moto G87 arrives with a premium build that includes a leather finish on the back, adding both style and grip. It is designed to handle harsh conditions, backed by IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance. This means the device is built to survive splashes, rain, and even submersion. Motorola has also added MIL STD 810H certification to improve resistance against drops and shocks.
In terms of pricing, the smartphone has been listed in the United Kingdom at 349.99 pounds, which roughly converts to around 45000 rupees. However, it has not yet gone on sale. The device will be offered in Pantone curated color options, including Overture and Blue Atoll, giving it a distinctive visual appeal.
On the performance side, the Moto G87 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset built on a 6nm process. It comes with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, ensuring smooth multitasking and sufficient space for media and apps. The phone runs on Android 16 with Motorola’s Hello UI, which brings features like Moto Secure, Smart Connect, and integrated Google tools such as Circle to Search and Gemini.
The highlight feature remains its camera system. The 200MP main sensor is equipped with optical image stabilization and Ultra Pixel technology, designed to capture detailed and sharp images even in challenging conditions. It also supports 2x lossless zoom and up to 10x digital zoom. Alongside the main sensor, there is an 8MP ultra wide camera, while the front houses a 32MP sensor capable of recording videos up to 2K resolution. Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support further enhance the multimedia experience.
The smartphone also features a large 6.78 inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smooth visuals and vibrant colors. The panel supports 10 bit color depth, full DCI P3 color gamut, and peak brightness of up to 5000 nits. For eye comfort and clarity, it includes certifications for low blue light and reduced motion blur, along with Gorilla Glass 7i protection.
Battery life is another strong point, with a 5200mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging. For security, the Moto G87 includes both a fingerprint sensor and face unlock. Additional sensors such as gyroscope, ambient light sensor, and e compass round out the feature set.
With a blend of high resolution photography, durable construction, and modern software features, Motorola’s Moto G87 is positioned as a compelling option for users looking for a reliable and camera focused smartphone in the mid range segment.
