BRS working president K T Rama Rao has strongly criticized the recent gas price hike, calling it a harsh blow to workers and small businesses, especially on the occasion of Labour Day.
Reacting to the sharp increase in commercial cylinder prices, KTR said the decision would directly impact hotels, restaurants and small food outlets that depend heavily on gas for daily operations. He warned that rising costs could force many establishments to shut down, affecting the livelihoods of thousands of workers.
KTR expressed concern over the situation in Hyderabad, where the price of commercial cylinders has climbed significantly, making it difficult for businesses to sustain operations. He said such hikes would ultimately push up food prices, adding pressure on common people.
Taking a critical view of the timing, KTR said increasing gas prices on Labour Day sends a negative message to workers who are already dealing with rising living expenses. He described the move as insensitive and questioned the intent behind the decision.
He also pointed out that even smaller cylinders used by bachelors and low income households have become more expensive, making daily meals costlier. According to him, the combined effect of rising fuel prices and inflation is putting an increasing burden on ordinary families.
KTR further alleged that the continuous rise in fuel related costs is linked to policy decisions that have led to higher taxes and charges. He said the common man is facing the impact of these decisions through increased daily expenses, calling for more balanced measures to ease the financial strain.
