In a significant relief to thousands of employees, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced key measures benefiting RTC workers, addressing long pending demands related to their previous strike.
The government has decided to pay salaries for the strike period, departing from the usual rule of no work no pay. This decision comes after representations from worker unions, who appealed for financial support considering the difficulties faced by employees during that time.
Alongside the salary payment, the Chief Minister also ordered the withdrawal of police cases registered against workers during the strike. Many employees had been facing legal and personal challenges due to these cases, and the decision is expected to ease their burden.
Officials said the move will provide much needed financial relief to workers and their families, many of whom had been waiting for a resolution. The decision has been widely welcomed by RTC employee unions across the state.
The Chief Minister directed Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and senior officials to implement the orders without delay. Instructions have been issued to release necessary approvals and ensure that pending dues are credited to workers accounts quickly.
Following the announcement, celebrations were reported at several RTC depots, with workers expressing gratitude for the government response. The decision is seen as a positive step towards improving relations between the administration and transport employees.
