Andhra Pradesh Government Rejects Secretariat Drone Rumours

The Andhra Pradesh government dismissed reports of a drone over the Secretariat, clarifying that the object seen was a commercial flight approaching Vijayawada during the collectors meeting.

  • Secretariat drone rumours created security concerns
  • Andhra Pradesh government called the claims false
  • Commercial flight mistaken for drone near Secretariat

Reports claiming that a drone was spotted over the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat triggered panic and raised security concerns on Friday. However, the state government strongly denied the allegations and clarified that the object seen in the sky was actually a commercial aircraft, not a drone.

The rumours began spreading while a high level collectors meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was underway at the Secretariat. With senior officials gathered at the venue, the claims quickly attracted public attention and led to concerns over possible security lapses.

Police and intelligence officials immediately launched an inquiry after the reports surfaced. Following a detailed verification, authorities confirmed that the flying object was Air India flight AI2903 travelling from Delhi to Vijayawada. Officials stated that the aircraft was following its scheduled landing route and there was no security threat linked to the Secretariat.

Government sources expressed strong displeasure over the circulation of what they described as false and misleading information. Officials suspect that the rumours were deliberately spread to divert public attention from the important collectors meeting taking place at the Secretariat.

The government also warned against creating panic during sensitive situations, saying such misinformation could affect law and order. Authorities believe there may be a larger conspiracy angle behind the spread of the false drone claims and are continuing their investigation into the matter.
