Apple Reportedly Working on Futuristic iPhone With Fully Curved Edge Display

Apple may introduce a futuristic iPhone with curved edge OLED display, slimmer bezels and improved brightness technology as the company reportedly prepares major design upgrades for future models.

Apple is reportedly planning one of the biggest design changes in iPhone history with a future model that could feature a display curved on all four sides. According to recent industry reports, the company is already working on advanced OLED technology that may appear in upcoming iPhone models expected around 2027 and 2028.

The idea behind the new display technology is to create an almost bezel free smartphone experience without compromising brightness, durability or image quality. While curved displays are not entirely new in the smartphone market, Apple is said to be developing a much more refined version designed to solve the visual problems often seen on heavily curved screens.

Reports suggest Apple is currently discussing next generation OLED panel technology with Samsung Display and LG Display, two of its biggest display suppliers. Both companies are believed to be preparing for future manufacturing changes needed to support Apple’s ambitious display plans.

One of the key challenges with ultra curved OLED screens is maintaining consistent brightness and image clarity near the edges. Existing OLED panels use a magnesium silver alloy layer inside the display, but when screens bend aggressively around the sides, visual distortions and lower brightness levels can sometimes appear near corners and curved edges.

To address this issue, Apple is reportedly considering a new material called Indium Zinc Oxide or IZO. This material is said to offer better transparency, allowing light to pass through more efficiently. As a result, future iPhones could deliver clearer visuals and improved brightness even with displays wrapping around all sides of the device.

Industry insiders believe this technology could play a major role in Apple’s rumored anniversary iPhone expected in 2027. That model is said to celebrate twenty years of the iPhone lineup and may introduce a nearly borderless design with a screen flowing smoothly around the edges.

The 2028 iPhone models could push the concept even further by improving display quality and reducing visual imperfections. Apple reportedly wants to create a premium immersive screen experience while maintaining strong durability and display performance for everyday use.

The development process appears to be influencing the supply chain as well. Reports indicate that LG Display has already announced major investments in OLED infrastructure, which many industry observers believe could be connected to future Apple projects.

Samsung Display is also reportedly evaluating fresh production investments because the manufacturing process required for these advanced curved OLED panels may not fit easily into existing production lines. This suggests that large scale changes could be needed before the technology becomes commercially ready.

Although Apple has not officially confirmed any of these reports, excitement around the possibility of a truly futuristic iPhone design is already growing among smartphone enthusiasts. Many users are eager to see how Apple could combine premium hardware with an almost seamless display experience in the coming years.

If these plans become reality, the future iPhone lineup may represent one of the most dramatic visual transformations the company has introduced since the launch of the first edge to edge display models.
