Xiaomi 17 Max Debuts with Massive Battery and 200MP Camera Setup
Xiaomi has launched its new flagship smartphone with premium camera technology, huge battery capacity, powerful Snapdragon chipset, advanced display features, and multiple storage variants for high performance users

Xiaomi has expanded its flagship smartphone lineup with the launch of the Xiaomi 17 Max in China. The company introduced the device during its May 2026 event where several other products, including electric vehicles and wearable devices, were also showcased. The smartphone is currently available for pre orders in the Chinese market and official sales are expected to begin from May 25.
The Xiaomi 17 Max stands out mainly for its large 8000mAh battery, making it the biggest battery powered model in the Xiaomi 17 series so far. The phone supports 100W wired fast charging along with 22.5W reverse wired charging support, allowing users to charge other compatible devices directly from the smartphone.
Camera capabilities are another major highlight of the new flagship model. The device features a Leica tuned triple rear camera setup led by a 200 megapixel primary sensor with optical image stabilisation support. Xiaomi has also included a 50 megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and a 50 megapixel ultrawide sensor offering a wide field of view. On the front, the smartphone carries a 32 megapixel selfie camera capable of recording 4K videos.
The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset built on a 3nm process. Xiaomi claims the processor delivers high speed performance with peak clock speeds reaching 4.6GHz. The device is paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.1 storage, targeting gamers and heavy smartphone users looking for smooth multitasking and faster app performance.
For display, Xiaomi has equipped the phone with a 6.9 inch AMOLED panel featuring 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate support. The screen also offers HDR10 Plus, Dolby Vision, 3500 nits peak brightness, and Dragon Crystal 3.0 protection. According to the company, the device carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
The Xiaomi 17 Max runs on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 and supports dual SIM connectivity. Connectivity features include 5G, Wi Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, GPS, NavIC, and USB Type C support. The smartphone also includes several sensors along with a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner for security.
The company has launched the smartphone in Pixel Black, Sky Blue, and White color options. The base variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage starts at 4,799 yuan, which is roughly Rs 68,000. The top end model with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage is priced at 5,799 yuan, approximately Rs 82,000.
Weighing around 225 grams, the Xiaomi 17 Max combines premium hardware with flagship level features, aiming to attract users looking for a performance focused smartphone with long battery life and advanced photography options.
