The Telangana government has officially unveiled the latest Indiramma Sarees that will soon be distributed to women associated with self help groups across the state. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy launched the new saree collection during a special event in Hyderabad attended by Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Seethakka along with senior women officials.
The newly introduced sarees were showcased in two modern designs featuring an attractive parrot green shade. During the launch event, the Chief Minister personally presented the sarees to Minister Seethakka and a senior woman official as a symbolic gesture celebrating women empowerment and dignity.
The government is positioning the Indiramma Saree initiative as more than a welfare program. Officials said the scheme reflects efforts to strengthen women’s confidence and recognize their contribution to society while also expanding support systems for self help groups.
This time, the state has introduced a significant change in the distribution process. Unlike earlier phases that focused mainly on rural beneficiaries, the government has decided to extend the scheme to women group members in urban areas as well. The move is expected to widen the reach of the program and ensure more women receive support.
The initiative is also expected to provide a major boost to Telangana’s handloom industry. The government has reportedly placed orders for one crore sarees with local weavers, creating large scale employment opportunities for thousands of weaving families across the state.
Officials are now accelerating preparations to ensure timely distribution of the sarees. Designed with quality standards and changing preferences in mind, the sarees are expected to reach eligible women across Telangana in the coming period.
