In an emotional decision that has touched many people, the family of Hyderabad mountaineer Arun Kumar Tiwari decided to leave his mortal remains in the Himalayas after he lost his life while descending from Mount Everest.

Family members said Arun had a deep bond with the Himalayas and believed the mountains were more than just a destination for him. They shared that he dedicated his passion and spirit to the peaks he loved and felt he truly belonged there.

Arun Kumar Tiwari aged 53 had recently joined a team of mountaineers on an Everest expedition. The group successfully reached the summit on May 21, achieving a remarkable milestone after an intense climb.

However, tragedy struck during the descent when Arun and another climber reportedly lost their lives near the Hillary Step, a location widely known among climbers as one of the most dangerous sections of the Everest route.

Recovering bodies from such extreme heights is considered highly difficult and requires extensive effort. Experts say a large rescue team and significant resources are needed to bring back remains from the death zone area.

His family explained that they see Arun’s final journey as a spiritual one and believe he has now become one with the mountains he admired throughout his life. For them, leaving him in the Himalayas was a decision made with emotion, respect and love.
