77th Republic Day Parade Marks India’s Democratic Spirit

India marks the 77th Republic Day with nationwide celebrations as New Delhi hosts the grand parade, cultural showcases, national messages, and official announcements reflecting unity, pride, and the vision of a developed nation.

Delhi: India is celebrating its 77th Republic Day with enthusiasm and patriotic spirit across the country. The national capital remains the centre of attention, where elaborate arrangements have been made for the grand parade at Kartavya Path, scheduled to begin at 9.30 am.

The parade brings together the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, alongside colourful tableaux representing states, ministries, and cultural themes. Precision drills, flypasts, and traditional performances make the event one of the most watched national ceremonies of the year.

Alongside the parade, the central government has launched Bharat Parv at the Red Fort premises, a six day national cultural and tourism festival starting January 26. The event showcases India’s artistic, cultural, and spiritual heritage through food festivals, crafts, performances, and exhibitions. The Ministry of Tourism confirmed that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat would inaugurate the festival.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended Republic Day greetings to citizens across the country through a message on social media. He described the day as a symbol of India’s pride and democratic strength, urging people to renew their commitment towards building a developed and self reliant nation.

Security remains tight across Delhi, with special arrangements in place around Kartavya Path and other key locations. Authorities have also organised several public events and cultural programmes in different parts of the city to mark the occasion.

Ahead of Republic Day, the Union government announced the Padma Awards for 2026. A total of 131 individuals from various fields have been selected for their exceptional contributions. The list includes five Padma Vibhushan awardees, thirteen Padma Bhushan recipients, and one hundred thirteen Padma Shri honourees.

As celebrations continue throughout the day, Republic Day once again serves as a reminder of India’s constitutional values, collective achievements, and shared aspirations for the future.
