Agnipath, price rise among issues to be raised by Cong in Monsoon session

New Delhi, July 14 (UNI) Ahead of the Monsoon Session of parliament, Congress on Thursday said they will raise issues like LPG price hike, Agnipath scheme, unemployment, devaluation of Rupee, and privatization of public sector banks in both the Houses. Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury held a joint press conference after a meeting of the Parliamentary Strategy Group of the Congress chaired by party President Sonia Gandhi.

Kharge said. He also said the new Agnipath scheme for recruitment in the armed forces, and privatization of public sector banks will be among the important issues that will be the focus. The India- China border situation will also be raised. He also said “like-minded” Opposition parties will hold a meeting on Sunday after a meeting called by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi. Chowdhury, meanwhile said the Opposition had not been yet informed of what was likely to be the business to be taken up in the upcoming session. He also said the situation of communal tension across the country will be raised by Congress. The Monsoon Session of Parliament starts on July 18 and ends on August 12.

“WE WILL RAISE ALL ISSUES OF NATIONAL IMPORTANCE IN THE UPCOMING SESSION. ISSUES OF PRICE RISE, INCLUDING THE RISE IN THE PRICE OF COOKING GAS, UNEMPLOYMENT, ECONOMIC SITUATION AND THE ATTACK ON FEDERAL STRUCTURE WILL BE AMONG THE ISSUES WE WILL RAISE,”
