Monsoon fury continues in Telangana, Godavari flowing above danger mark

Date:

HYDERABAD, JULY 14 (UNI) Parts of Telangana continued to reel under monsoon fury with the Godavari river flowing dangerously and several villages remaining marooned and cut off from the mainland. After lashing several districts of the state for the last week, rains abated on Thursday but both Godavari and Krishna rivers and their tributaries remained in spate due to huge inflows from upstream.

Massive inflows at irrigation projects and overflowing rivulets, streams, tanks, lakes, canals, and other bodies have inundated several villages and towns in north Telangana districts, disrupting road transport and paralyzing normal life. The Godavari was flowing above the danger level at Bhadrachalam in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. At 11 a.m. on Thursday, the water level at Bhadrachalam stood at 59.90 feet.
