The Andhra Pradesh government has allocated twenty acres of land to Infosys in Visakhapatnam at a nominal rate of ninety nine paise per acre, a move that has once again sparked debate over land allotment policies for corporate firms. The decision was formalized through official orders issued by the IT department.
According to the government, the land has been earmarked for setting up an IT campus at Yendada Hill area in the city. The project is expected to attract an investment of around seven hundred fifty crore rupees, contributing to the growth of the technology sector in the region.
Officials stated that the first phase of the project is scheduled for completion by January twenty twenty nine, while the entire development is planned to be completed within six years. The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation will be responsible for developing essential infrastructure such as roads, water supply, and electricity.
Despite criticism over offering land at highly subsidized rates to private companies, the government appears committed to its strategy of attracting large scale investments. Authorities believe that such initiatives will help generate employment opportunities and strengthen the state’s position as an emerging IT hub.
