Jaishankar US Visit Focuses on Trade and Economic Partnership Talks
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar held high level meetings in the United States to advance India US economic ties trade cooperation and strategic partnership following positive signals after talks between Prime Minister Modi and President Trump.

India United States relations saw fresh momentum as External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar began key engagements in Washington aimed at strengthening economic and strategic cooperation between the two countries.
The visit came soon after a phone conversation between Donald Trump and Narendra Modi which set a positive tone for bilateral ties. Following the announcement of reduced tariffs on Indian goods market sentiment in India turned upbeat with stock indices rallying sharply.
During his US tour Jaishankar met senior American leaders including Marco Rubio and Scott Bessent. Discussions focused on expanding the India US economic partnership boosting trade flows and deepening strategic cooperation.
Jaishankar later said the talks were productive and covered progress in economic engagement and long term collaboration. The US State Department also said both sides welcomed the trade understanding reached between the two leaders and reaffirmed their commitment to bilateral and multilateral cooperation including through the Quad.
Meanwhile the White House stated that India has expressed readiness to align energy purchases under the trade framework including increased imports from the United States. Officials stressed the importance of a stable and prosperous Indo Pacific region in advancing shared interests.
