A tragic road accident in Nepal has claimed the lives of seven Indian pilgrims after a microbus carrying devotees plunged into a deep gorge in Gorkha district. The heartbreaking incident occurred on Saturday evening while the group was returning from a religious visit.
According to preliminary reports the vehicle was carrying fourteen passengers at the time of the accident. The pilgrims had earlier visited the well known Manakamana temple and were on their way back when the microbus suddenly lost control on a dangerous mountain road.
The impact of the crash proved fatal for seven Indian passengers who died on the spot. The remaining seven individuals sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to a hospital in Bharatpur for medical treatment. Doctors treating the victims said that some of the injured passengers remain in critical condition.
Local residents and police personnel quickly responded to the accident site and helped rescue those trapped inside the vehicle. Emergency teams worked together to move the injured passengers to safety and arrange transport for medical care.
Police officials believe that the driver may have lost control while navigating the steep and narrow hill road which is known for its sharp turns and difficult terrain. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Following the tragedy the Indian Embassy in Nepal expressed concern and confirmed that it is providing necessary assistance to the victims and their families. Officials are coordinating with local authorities to support the injured pilgrims and handle further arrangements.
The incident has cast a shadow over what was meant to be a spiritual journey highlighting once again the risks associated with travel on mountainous roads in the region.
