PM Kisan 22nd Installment at Risk for Millions of Farmers Over Aadhaar Linking

PM Kisan beneficiaries across several states may face delays or stoppage of the twenty second installment as millions of bank accounts remain unlinked with Aadhaar, raising concern among farmers awaiting payments.

  • PM Kisan installment may stop for unlinked Aadhaar accounts.
  • Over three million farmers affected nationwide.
  • Aadhaar bank linking mandatory for DBT payments.

The upcoming twenty second installment under the PM Kisan scheme could be delayed or even halted for a large section of beneficiaries, triggering fresh worries among farmers who depend on the yearly assistance. Officials have flagged Aadhaar linkage issues as the key reason behind the possible disruption.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, eligible farmers receive six thousand rupees annually in three equal installments through direct bank transfers. While farmers are eagerly waiting for the next two thousand rupees installment, recent data shows that more than three million bank accounts are still not linked with Aadhaar, making them ineligible for payment at this stage.

According to official records available as of February 6, 2026 over three million farmers nationwide have not completed Aadhaar seeding with their bank accounts. The impact is expected to be higher in major agricultural states. Uttar Pradesh alone accounts for over one million unlinked accounts, followed by significant numbers in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Smaller states and Union Territories such as Sikkim, Goa and Chandigarh are also affected.

The government has made it clear that Aadhaar linked bank accounts are mandatory for receiving funds under the Direct Benefit Transfer system. Farmers who fail to complete this process may see their PM Kisan installment delayed until the issue is resolved.

To avoid missing the payment, beneficiaries are advised to verify their Aadhaar linkage status immediately. This can be done through net banking, mobile banking apps or by visiting the nearest bank branch. Farmers can complete Aadhaar linking online where available or submit their Aadhaar card and passbook at the bank for manual linking. Some banks also offer Aadhaar linking through ATM or SMS services.

Timely Aadhaar linkage will ensure that the upcoming two thousand rupees installment is credited without interruption, officials said, urging farmers to act promptly.
