PM Modi Silchar Visit Launches Development Projects Worth Twenty Three Thousand Five Hundred Fifty Crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched and inaugurated development projects worth more than twenty three thousand crore during his Silchar visit focusing on highways infrastructure road connectivity and regional growth.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a series of major development initiatives during his visit to Silchar in Assam marking a significant boost for infrastructure and connectivity in the northeastern region. Projects worth more than twenty three thousand five hundred crore rupees were either inaugurated or laid for foundation during the visit.

Among the most significant initiatives is the Shillong Silchar high speed corridor which will become the first access controlled green field expressway in northeast India. The project valued at around twenty two thousand eight hundred sixty crore rupees is expected to dramatically improve transportation and travel efficiency across the region.

Officials believe the expressway will strengthen connectivity between key cities and support economic development in surrounding areas. Once completed the corridor is expected to reduce travel time and improve movement of goods and passengers across the northeastern states.

During the same visit the Prime Minister also launched the Assam Mala three point zero initiative aimed at strengthening the road network throughout the state. The project with an estimated value of about three thousand two hundred crore rupees will focus on expanding and upgrading roads across several districts.

Under this initiative nearly nine hundred kilometres of new roads will be developed to enhance connectivity between national highways and rural areas. Authorities say the project will improve transportation access for villages and support regional economic activities.

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for a new agricultural college in Patharkandi in Karimganj district. The institution is expected to contribute to agricultural education and research in the region while helping farmers adopt modern farming techniques.

After completing his engagements in Assam the Prime Minister travelled to Kolkata where he spoke about the growing importance of ports and inland waterways in the economic development of eastern India.

He highlighted that eastern India which had remained underdeveloped for decades is now gaining new business opportunities through improved inland water transport systems. According to him these waterways are opening new possibilities for trade logistics and industrial growth.

The Prime Minister also mentioned that modernization of the Haldia Dock Complex will help increase cargo handling capacity and speed up port operations making maritime trade more efficient.

Officials believe the development initiatives announced during the Silchar visit will significantly enhance connectivity infrastructure and economic opportunities in the northeastern states while strengthening the region integration with the rest of the country.
