A disturbing case of domestic violence has shaken Delhi after a pregnant woman was allegedly killed by her husband during a heated argument over money.
The victim, 27 year old Kajal Chaudhary, was a trained SWAT commando with the Delhi Police. She was four months pregnant at the time of the attack, making the incident even more tragic.
According to investigators, the couple got into a serious dispute at their home on January 22. During the argument, the accused Ankur, who works as a clerk with the Defence Ministry, allegedly attacked Kajal with a dumbbell, striking her on the head.
Kajal collapsed with severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital. Despite medical treatment, she succumbed to her injuries later, leaving behind a young child barely one and a half years old.
Police revealed that Kajal was on a phone call with her brother when the assault took place, helping investigators reconstruct the sequence of events.
The couple had married in 2023 and relatives of the victim have alleged that she faced constant harassment over dowry demands from her husband and in laws.
Following a complaint from the family, police registered a murder case and arrested Ankur. He has been sent to judicial custody as the investigation continues.
The incident has sparked widespread anger, with many calling for stricter action against domestic violence and stronger protection for women within households.
