Security agencies have issued a high alert in New Delhi after intelligence inputs warned of a potential terror threat. According to national media reports on Saturday, extremist elements are suspected to be planning attacks at crowded and sensitive locations in the capital.

Intelligence sources indicated that the Pakistan based terror outfit Lashkar e Toiba may be plotting strikes near prominent places such as Red Fort and temple areas around Chandni Chowk. Officials warned that large quantities of explosives could be used, increasing the risk to public safety.

In response, security forces have intensified surveillance across Delhi. Additional personnel have been deployed in sensitive zones, while bomb disposal squads are conducting extensive checks at public places transport hubs and crowded markets. Authorities are closely monitoring movement in and around historical landmarks and religious sites.

The alert comes in the backdrop of a previous terror incident near the Red Fort last year, which has heightened concern among agencies. Following the fresh warning, police have appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity.

State governments have also been instructed to strengthen security arrangements in other major cities, as agencies cautioned that the threat may not be limited to Delhi alone.
