The encounter occurred in the forest area of Bijapur district, where security personnel came face to face with a group of Maoists. Officials confirmed that a top commander, Udhamsingh, was killed in the exchange of fire.
Authorities said an automatic AK 47 rifle was recovered from the encounter site, indicating the senior role of the slain Maoist within the armed cadre. The recovery is being viewed as further evidence of his operational significance.
Operations in the area are still underway, with security forces continuing combing and search activities. Officials cautioned that more casualties cannot be ruled out as firing was reported to be ongoing at the time of the last update.
The latest encounter highlights the sustained efforts by security agencies to weaken Maoist leadership networks in central India. Senior officials said operations will continue until the area is fully secured and potential threats are neutralised.
