The Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday introduced a large scale Nabard credit plan for the 2026 to 2027 financial year, with a proposed outlay of Rs.5.11 lakh crore to support priority sectors and rural economic growth.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu released the Nabard State Focus Paper during an official programme attended by senior banking and financial institution representatives. The latest projection reflects a significant rise from the previous year’s credit estimate of Rs.4.24 lakh crore.
Agriculture emerged as the biggest beneficiary under the new plan, receiving an allocation of Rs.2.55 lakh crore. Officials stated that crop loans alone account for Rs.1.66 lakh crore, while additional support has been planned for allied sectors such as fisheries, animal husbandry and horticulture.
The government has also placed strong emphasis on horticulture development, especially in Rayalaseema and Prakasam districts. Nabard has proposed Rs.5,313 crore specifically for horticulture activities in these regions as part of the broader expansion strategy.
Financial assistance has also been planned for agricultural infrastructure and farm related services. Around Rs.9,957 crore has been earmarked for infrastructure projects, while allied agricultural activities will receive Rs.12,687 crore under the new framework.
Apart from farming, the MSME sector has secured a major allocation of Rs.1.64 lakh crore. The government believes strengthening small and medium enterprises will generate employment opportunities and improve economic activity in both rural and urban areas.
Speaking during the launch event, Chandrababu Naidu stressed the importance of horticulture and aquaculture in Andhra Pradesh’s economy. He called upon banks and Nabard officials to ensure easy access to credit for farmers, entrepreneurs and rural businesses.
The Chief Minister also said the state is targeting annual horticulture production of 450 lakh metric tonnes in the coming years. Senior officials from Nabard, SBI, Canara Bank, SLBC, APGB and APCOB were present at the programme.
