Andhra Pradesh has received a significant infrastructure boost with the Centre approving more than five hundred seventy crore rupees for a key road project linking the Machilipatnam port to the national highway network.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed his gratitude to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for sanctioning the six lane outer port connectivity road, calling it a crucial step for the state’s economic growth.

The approved project involves the construction of a six lane corridor connecting the Machilipatnam port to the junction of NH 65 and NH 216 through the Machilipatnam bypass section. The new road is expected to significantly improve access to both existing and greenfield ports.

According to the Chief Minister, the project reflects the Centre’s strong focus on enhancing port led development and logistics efficiency. He said the new corridor will help connect hinterland regions directly to the port, reducing transportation costs for industries and exporters.

Chandrababu Naidu assured that the Andhra Pradesh government will extend full cooperation to ensure speedy completion of national highway works in the state. He added that improved road infrastructure would accelerate economic activity and generate new employment opportunities.

The Centre had earlier announced the approval of funds for the project, highlighting its importance in strengthening port connectivity under the national highway framework. With the sanction now in place, the road project is expected to play a key role in boosting trade, logistics and overall development in coastal Andhra Pradesh.
