A total lunar eclipse on Tuesday afternoon has led to the temporary closure of several major temples across the Telugu states. As per astronomical calculations, the eclipse will begin at 3 21 pm and continue until 7 52 pm. In keeping with long standing religious customs, temple authorities have decided to suspend darshan during this period.

In Tirumala and Tirupati, all temples under the administration of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams will remain closed from 9 am to 7 30 pm. After the eclipse ends, purification rituals will be carried out before reopening the sanctum for devotees. Regular darshan is scheduled to resume from 8 30 pm. Annaprasadam distribution centres run by TTD will also remain temporarily suspended. Officials have urged pilgrims to check revised timings before planning their visit.

Telangana too is observing similar precautions. At the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Dharmapuri of Jagtial district, doors were shut at 9 am and will reopen only after Samprokshanam and Abhishekam rituals tomorrow morning.

In Rajanna Sircilla district, the Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple in Vemulawada along with the Sri Bhimeshwara Swamy Temple and other associated shrines will remain closed from early morning until evening. Temple authorities will perform Punyahavachanam and cleansing ceremonies before allowing devotees inside.

At Yadadri, the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple and its sub temples have also been closed for the eclipse duration. The temple will reopen in the early hours tomorrow, followed by purification rites and daily rituals before darshan begins. Similar arrangements are in place at the Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Odela.

In Siddipet district, the Komuravelli Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple will remain closed from morning until evening, with entry permitted only after the completion of prescribed religious ceremonies.

Temple officials across districts have appealed to devotees to stay informed about revised schedules. While the eclipse is a natural celestial event, traditional practices continue to guide temple rituals, reflecting the deep cultural and spiritual beliefs followed in the region.
