The Congress party’s MP candidate from Warangal Lok Sabha constituency Dr Kadiyam Kavya, the daughter of seasoned politician Kadiyam Srihari, is confident of getting a major chunk of SC votes, largely due to her father’s long standing association with people of the district in various capacities including as minister and deputy chief minister in the previous BRS government.
In fact, people see this contest as a fight between Srihari and his opponents considering his long association with the people of erstwhile Warangal district for over three decades.
In this electoral arena, the Madiga community holds significant sway, with both Aroori Ramesh of BJP and Sudheer Kumar of BRS hailing from the Madiga caste.
The competition intensifies as the battle for Madiga votes and the backing of BRS cadre unfolds. Both Ramesh and Kavya have past affiliations with the BRS, adding intrigue to the contest. However, the announcement of support from MRPS founder Manda Krishna Madiga for the BJP candidate poses a challenge for Madiga voters in deciding their allegiance.
Delving into Warangal’s rich historical tapestry, we uncover its legacy as the erstwhile capital of the Kakatiya kings, symbolizing resilience and cultural heritage. The region’s pivotal role in the Telangana movement and its vibrant political landscape underscore its significance in shaping the state’s destiny.
Amidst this backdrop, the electorate’s focus on key developmental projects like the industrial corridor and railway coach factory, alongside concerns over corruption allegations in Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, will influence voter sentiment. Moreover, the voices of SCCL employees in the Bhupalpally Assembly segment add another dimension to the electoral calculus.
“In this electoral journey, I remain committed to representing the aspirations of the people, bridging divides, and championing inclusive development for a brighter future in Warangal,” asserts Kavya.
