  • Vijay likely Chief Minister as TVK seeks majority support
  • TVK alliance talks intensify to reach majority mark
  • May 16 seen as possible oath date for Vijay

Political developments in Tamil Nadu have taken an interesting turn as actor turned politician Vijay moves closer to forming the government after his party emerged as the single largest force in the Assembly elections.

Vijay led TVK secured 108 seats, falling short of the required majority mark of 118 by just ten seats. With the numbers not yet in its favor, the party has intensified efforts to gather support from other political groups to bridge the gap.

Discussions with national leaders have added momentum to the process. Talks between Vijay and Rahul Gandhi are being seen as a crucial step, especially since the Congress party holds five seats that could play a decisive role in government formation. Early signals from Congress are said to be encouraging for TVK.

At the same time, efforts are underway to secure backing from smaller regional parties including PMK VCK and CPM. Political observers believe that if these alliances materialize, Vijay could comfortably cross the majority threshold.

As part of the government formation process, preparations are expected to begin soon, including meeting the Governor and submitting letters of support. If the numbers fall into place, discussions in political circles suggest that Vijay could take oath as Chief Minister on May 16.

However, there has been no official confirmation yet, and the final decision will depend on how quickly and effectively TVK manages to secure the required support.
