Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj department secures five national awards under Pawan Kalyan leadership for excellence in rural development governance water conservation and strengthening local institutions across the state.

The Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj department has achieved national recognition by winning five prestigious awards, marking a major milestone in rural development and governance. The department, led by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, was honored for its strong performance in strengthening local bodies and expanding public services.

The awards were announced by the Union Ministry of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, highlighting the state’s progress in key national programs. Andhra Pradesh secured the top position in major categories including Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan and Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari, reflecting its commitment to sustainable rural growth and water conservation.

This achievement becomes even more notable considering the state’s remarkable rise from the 24th position in previous rankings to securing the top spot at the national level. The transformation has been driven by focused planning, improved governance practices and active implementation at the grassroots level.

Several gram panchayats across districts also received special recognition for their outstanding work. Bokkasampalem village in Tirupati district stood first nationally for creating a women friendly environment. Sringavaram in Visakhapatnam district was recognized for excellence in governance, while Chemmullapalli in YSR Kadapa district secured second place in poverty alleviation and livelihood improvement. Gundamala village in Prakasam district ranked third for infrastructure development.

Kuppam mandal, represented by the Chief Minister, was selected as the third best mandal in the country, adding another feather to the state’s achievements. The state also excelled in promoting cost effective rainwater conservation initiatives under national programs.

Under the leadership of Pawan Kalyan, the department has been actively focusing on rural transformation by overseeing sectors such as Panchayat Raj, rural development, water supply, environment and science and technology. Initiatives like Palle Panduga have accelerated infrastructure development in villages.

The government has also conducted gram sabhas on a record scale, directly engaging with citizens to understand their concerns. Based on public feedback, immediate steps are being taken to address issues like roads drainage and drinking water through targeted programs.

These consistent efforts have brought visible changes in rural governance across Andhra Pradesh, earning the state national recognition and reinforcing its position as a model for grassroots development.
