Gaddar Awards to Be Presented on Ugadi as Telangana Pushes Hyderabad Film Hub Vision

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka announced Gaddar Awards will be presented on Ugadi highlighting government plans to promote cinema honour Gaddar legacy and position Hyderabad as national film industry hub.

The Telangana government will present the Gaddar Film Awards on Ugadi marking a renewed push to recognise meaningful cinema and strengthen Hyderabad role in the national film industry. The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka during a meeting with jury members in the Secretariat.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the government is working with a clear vision to make Hyderabad a central hub for film industries across Indian languages. He noted that unlike other cities Hyderabad offers better scope infrastructure and talent base for cinema growth which can create employment for youth technicians writers and directors.

He said the previous administration neglected film awards for nearly a decade but the present government under Revanth Reddy has revived them to encourage a sector that plays a strong role in social change. A detailed blueprint is being prepared to support cinema as both an art form and an industry.

Speaking on the legacy of Gaddar Bhatti Vikramarka described him as a cultural icon who dedicated his life to society through art. He said Gaddar embodied the spirit of Telangana through creativity courage and compassion and therefore the awards in his name reflect values beyond commercial success.

The Deputy Chief Minister assured that the awards selection will be based strictly on merit and transparency. Jury members were chosen after wide consultations considering their experience integrity and commitment to cinema. He added that films selected for the Gaddar Awards should balance commercial appeal with a strong social message.

The screening process for the awards will begin on March six while the award ceremony will be held on Ugadi. Officials said the initiative is expected to motivate filmmakers to create cinema that connects with society and carries meaningful narratives.
