A major interstate ganja smuggling operation has been uncovered in Secunderabad following a joint operation by the Eagle team and Railway Protection Force at the railway station.

During a surprise inspection, officials intercepted two individuals suspected of transporting contraband. Upon checking, authorities recovered 10.089 kilograms of dry ganja, leading to their immediate arrest.

The accused have been identified as Deepak Sahu, aged 26, and Deepak Gouda, aged 20, both residents of Ganjam district in Odisha. Preliminary investigation revealed that the ganja was sourced from forest areas in Gajapati and was being transported to Delhi.

Officials estimate the seized contraband to be worth around Rs 5 lakh. The operation highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb interstate drug trafficking networks.

Police said the accused were attempting to move the illegal substance through railway routes, which are often used to avoid detection. Authorities are now probing further to identify other links in the smuggling network.

The successful operation has once again underlined the importance of coordinated checks at major transit points like railway stations to prevent illegal activities.
