Hyderabad based Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences has achieved a major milestone in healthcare after successfully completing 2000 kidney transplant surgeries. The achievement has drawn appreciation from medical experts and government leaders across the state.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy congratulated the doctors and staff from the nephrology and urology departments for their dedicated work in helping patients suffering from kidney related illnesses. He praised the medical team for reaching an important landmark in patient care.
The latest achievement has placed NIMS among the leading kidney transplant institutions in the country. Reports indicate that the hospital has emerged as the top center for kidney transplant procedures in South India and secured the third position nationally.
The institute has also played an important role in supporting economically weaker patients. A large number of kidney transplant surgeries that usually cost huge amounts in private hospitals were provided without financial burden to patients through welfare schemes.
Officials stated that nearly 95 percent of the total 2000 transplant procedures were carried out through Arogyasri and Chief Minister Relief Fund support. This meant thousands of patients received life changing treatment without having to bear heavy expenses.
Improved medical facilities and infrastructure at the hospital have also contributed to faster growth in transplant services. Over the past few years alone, the hospital has recorded a sharp rise in procedures and completed 500 kidney transplants within a short period.
The accomplishment is being viewed as a significant step in public healthcare, with many people appreciating the efforts of the medical team that continues to provide advanced treatment and support to kidney patients.
