Hyderabad has taken a significant step forward in advanced cancer care as NIMS hospital introduced the TruBeam radiation machine, offering high precision treatment free of cost to economically weaker patients. The system, installed at a cost of around Rs 30 crore, brings cutting edge radiation therapy that was earlier limited to private hospitals.
This new technology allows doctors to target cancer cells with exceptional accuracy while protecting nearby healthy tissues. Unlike conventional radiation methods that may affect surrounding cells, the TruBeam system uses high resolution imaging to track tumor movement and deliver focused treatment.
Medical experts at NIMS say the machine can treat tumors located in sensitive areas such as the brain, lungs, spine, and liver without the need for surgery. Even deeply located tumors can be identified and treated effectively, reducing complications and recovery time for patients.
One of the major advantages of the TruBeam system is its speed and efficiency. Each treatment session can be completed within minutes, making it less stressful for patients. It also enables high dose radiation in fewer sessions, improving overall treatment outcomes.
The Telangana government has made this facility accessible to poor patients at no cost, while others can avail treatment at significantly lower charges compared to private hospitals where similar procedures can cost lakhs of rupees.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen public healthcare infrastructure in the state. Alongside establishing new medical colleges and hospitals, the government is equipping major institutions with advanced medical technologies to ensure quality treatment for all sections of society.
In addition, plans are underway to expand healthcare services through new facilities like TIMS hospitals, which will include international patient wings to cater to both domestic and global patients in the future.
With the introduction of the NIMS TruBeam radiation machine, Hyderabad is moving closer to becoming a hub for advanced and affordable cancer care.
