Telangana continues to experience intense summer conditions, with scorching temperatures and severe heatwave conditions affecting daily life across several districts. The relentless heat has forced many people to remain indoors as daytime temperatures soar to alarming levels.
The India Meteorological Department has issued red alerts for Khammam, Mahabubabad, Nalgonda and Suryapet districts, warning residents about the likelihood of severe heatwave conditions. Authorities have advised people to take precautions and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun during peak hours.
Temperatures crossed the 46 degree Celsius mark in several locations on Friday. Dahegaon in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district recorded the highest temperature at 46.3 degrees Celsius, while Bellampalli in Mancherial district and Ramagundam in Peddapalli district recorded 46.2 degrees Celsius each.
The heatwave impact was widespread, with severe hot winds reported in 46 mandals across nine districts. Mancherial district recorded the highest number of affected mandals, followed by Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Peddapalli, Nirmal and Jagtial. Parts of Mahabubabad, Khammam, Suryapet and Mulugu districts also experienced intense heat conditions.
An orange alert has also been issued for districts including Adilabad, Warangal and Karimnagar regions, along with Siddipet, Nizamabad and Bhadradri Kothagudem. Weather officials continue to monitor the evolving conditions closely.
The prolonged heat has led to tragic consequences. Reports indicate that nine people lost their lives due to suspected heatstroke in different parts of the state on Friday. Several of the victims were engaged in outdoor work, highlighting the dangers posed by the extreme weather.
Despite the harsh conditions, there is some relief in sight. Weather experts have forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in parts of the former Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda districts. Wind speeds may reach between 40 and 50 kilometers per hour in some areas.
The weather department expects rainfall activity to expand across southern, northern and central Telangana on Sunday. Officials also predict that temperatures may gradually decline after June 1, offering relief to residents who have been struggling through one of the hottest periods of the season.
