Shiv Pratap Shukla Appointed as New Telangana Governor in Major Reshuffle

President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday announced a series of gubernatorial appointments across several states, bringing changes to key constitutional posts in the country. Among the major decisions, Shiv Pratap Shukla has been appointed as the new Governor of Telangana.

Shiv Pratap Shukla, who is currently serving as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, will now take charge in Telangana. He replaces Jishnu Dev Varma, who had been serving as the Governor of the state since July 31, 2024.

Jishnu Dev Varma has been appointed as the new Governor of Maharashtra as part of the reshuffle. The appointments mark a significant administrative change in several states.

In another important development, Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi has been appointed as the Governor of West Bengal. Meanwhile, Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, who currently serves as the Governor of Kerala, will temporarily discharge the responsibilities of the Governor of Tamil Nadu.

The President has also appointed Nand Kishore Yadav as the new Governor of Nagaland. In Bihar, Lt Gen Retired Syed Ata Hasnain has been named the Governor.

Further changes include the appointment of Kavinder Gupta as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh. Gupta is presently serving as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.

Vinai Kumar Saxena, who currently holds the post of Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. At the same time, Taranjit Singh Sandhu has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.

Officials stated that all the appointments will come into effect from the dates when the respective appointees formally assume charge of their offices. The reshuffle reflects a broad administrative reorganisation of key gubernatorial positions across the country.
