The Telangana government has finalized the menu for its upcoming CM Breakfast Scheme, aiming to provide nutritious morning meals to students studying in government schools across the state.
The scheme is set to be implemented from the next academic year and will cover students from pre primary to intermediate level. Officials estimate that around 22 lakh students will benefit from this initiative, making it one of the largest nutrition programs in the state.
Under the plan, students will be served hot breakfast six days a week, with a carefully designed weekly menu to ensure balanced nutrition. The meals include items such as dosa with chutney, millet idli with sambar, puri with curry, millet upma or pongal, and bonda with chutney.
In addition to breakfast, the government will also provide milk and ragi java on alternate days to further improve nutritional intake. Authorities have also decided to allocate 45 minutes daily to ensure students can eat comfortably without rushing.
The government has made significant budget allocations to support the scheme. Funds have been earmarked for food preparation, milk supply, and coverage for intermediate students, reflecting the scale of the initiative.
Inspired by the successful implementation of a similar program in Tamil Nadu, the Telangana government is focusing on improving student health and school attendance through this scheme.
Officials believe that providing nutritious breakfast will not only support physical well being but also enhance concentration and academic performance among students.
