In a move aimed at strengthening public healthcare services, the Telangana government has introduced strict enforcement of Medical PG bond rules, making it mandatory for postgraduate doctors to complete government service or face heavy penalties.

According to the latest circular issued by the Directorate of Medical Education, doctors who complete their postgraduate studies in government medical colleges must serve in government hospitals as part of compulsory service. Authorities have made it clear that any violation of this bond agreement will attract serious consequences.

The revised rules impose a penalty of Rs 20 lakh on PG degree holders who fail to join or discontinue their assigned duties. Diploma holders will face a fine of Rs 15 lakh under similar circumstances. These penalties apply if the required service is not completed within the stipulated time frame.

Beyond financial penalties, the government has also introduced strict career restrictions. Doctors who violate the bond conditions will not be eligible to apply for government jobs in Telangana in the future. They will also be barred from pursuing higher education in government institutions, including super speciality courses.

Officials have also outlined clear service conditions. Doctors are required to complete one year of compulsory service within 12 months of receiving their posting orders. During this period, leave policies are tightly regulated, allowing only weekly offs, post duty offs, and up to 20 days of casual leave annually. Any additional leave, including maternity related leave, will be subject to strict verification and approval.

The government stated that these measures are necessary to address the shortage of specialist doctors in public hospitals and to ensure better healthcare services for the general population. The decision reflects a firm approach to improving medical infrastructure and accountability in the state.

With these new regulations in place, the administration aims to ensure that qualified doctors contribute to public service while maintaining discipline and commitment within the healthcare system.
