Telangana Director General of Police CV Anand has said that controlling the spread of drugs has become one of the government’s top priorities as authorities continue strengthening anti narcotics operations across the state.

Speaking about the growing threat posed by drug abuse, the DGP said many families were suffering because of the narcotics menace and stressed the need for stronger coordination between police departments, educational institutions and society.

He praised the work of the Eagle Force and narcotics enforcement teams for carrying out several successful operations against drug supply networks. According to the DGP, the special force has not only conducted operations within Telangana but also tracked drug related activities in other states and even outside the country.

Officials said the anti narcotics teams managed to identify and dismantle several supply chains connected to illegal drug trafficking. Despite limited manpower, the narcotics wing has shown strong performance in detecting and preventing drug circulation, he added.

CV Anand also directed district level police officials to focus more seriously on drug control activities and increase monitoring in sensitive areas. He stressed that local police units should actively participate in preventing drug abuse instead of leaving the responsibility entirely to specialised wings.

The DGP further pointed out that colleges and educational institutions must also play an important role in awareness and prevention efforts. He said managements should stay alert and cooperate closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure campuses remain drug free.

Police officials believe awareness campaigns combined with strict enforcement can help reduce the spread of narcotics among youth and protect families from the long term social and financial damage caused by drug addiction.
