The Telangana government has moved ahead with a major initiative aimed at strengthening economic opportunities for women by planning women operated petrol bunks in every Assembly constituency across the state. The proposal is expected to create new business opportunities and improve financial independence for women self help groups.

Officials have already started implementation efforts through the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty with support from leading oil companies. Authorities are preparing land identification, lease agreements and approval processes to speed up the expansion of the project in different districts.

The initiative follows encouraging results from pilot projects that were introduced earlier in Narayanpet and Sangareddy districts under women managed groups. Following their positive response, plans are now moving forward for several additional locations across Telangana.

Work related to land preparation, obtaining required permissions and infrastructure arrangements is progressing in multiple districts. Officials stated that several locations have already entered advanced stages of development while construction activities have started in a few areas.

Meanwhile, the state has also launched Women Celebration Week beginning Monday with several activities planned across villages and districts. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is expected to virtually inaugurate projects connected to women welfare and community infrastructure.

Programs during the week will focus on women safety awareness, educational initiatives, solar power projects and the construction of women support buildings. Authorities believe these initiatives will help strengthen participation of women in both economic and social development activities across Telangana.
