Telangana is experiencing intense heatwave conditions, with temperatures soaring past 40 degrees in a majority of districts, leaving people struggling with extreme heat and humidity. The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has issued an alert highlighting the severity of the situation.
According to officials, as many as 22 districts recorded maximum temperatures above 40 degrees on Sunday, prompting the issuance of orange warnings. Bhadrachalam Kothagudem district reported the highest temperature at 41.8 degrees, followed closely by Jagityal and Mancherial at 41.6 degrees.
Several other districts including Kumrambheem Asifabad and Peddapalli recorded 41.5 degrees, while Mulugu and Nizamabad registered 41.4 degrees. Nalgonda also experienced high temperatures touching 41.3 degrees. Remaining districts reported temperatures slightly below 40 degrees but continued to face harsh weather conditions.
Officials stated that the heat is likely to persist for the next four days, urging residents to take necessary precautions. The rising temperatures have caused discomfort across the state, with people advised to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
However, there may be some relief ahead as weather systems such as a trough and surface circulation are expected to bring light rainfall in parts of the state until April 5. Districts including Mahabubnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Siddipet, Vikarabad, Sangareddy and Medak may witness scattered showers with thunderstorms and lightning.
In the past 24 hours, light rainfall was already recorded in areas like Kothagudem, Hyderabad, Mulugu and Suryapet, indicating changing weather patterns.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, urging citizens to stay cautious as the state navigates both rising temperatures and sudden weather changes.
