Telangana Vigilance Raids Expose Rs 10.79 Crore Illegal Activities in One Month

Statewide inspections in February uncovered tax evasion illegal mining and ration diversion with seizures arrests and recovery as Telangana Vigilance and Enforcement intensified coordinated checks across departments

A month long crackdown by the Telangana Vigilance and Enforcement Department has brought large scale irregularities to light across the state. Coordinated inspections conducted in February with transport GST mining forest and police officials revealed violations that caused an estimated revenue loss of Rs 10.79 crore.

Teams mounted intensive highway checks and monitored ORR exits inspecting more than a thousand vehicles. Authorities seized 200 vehicles for multiple rule violations. Special raids targeting illegal mining led to the seizure of 245 metric tonnes of sand along with excavators tractors and other vehicles. Nineteen people were arrested during these operations.

Officials also focused on diversion of essential commodities. Raids recovered 131 quintals of PDS rice and 27 quintals of wheat valued at about Rs 5.8 lakh. Surprise inspections at welfare hostels in Sangareddy and Nalgonda flagged deficiencies and reports were sent to the concerned departments for corrective action.

From the assessed loss officials said Rs 1.96 crore has already been recovered. The department urged citizens to report misuse of public funds and illegal activities through the toll free number 14432 assuring prompt action.
