Apple May Introduce Dark Cherry Finish With iPhone 18 Pro Lineup
Leaks suggest Apple could debut a new dark cherry color along with subtle design refinements, upgraded camera features, and next generation chip improvements in upcoming premium iPhone models
A fresh wave of leaks around iPhone 18 Pro suggests that Apple could be preparing one of its most visually distinct finishes yet. This time, the spotlight is on a deep and refined dark cherry shade that may redefine how premium iPhones look in hand.
According to reports linked to Apple’s supply chain, the company is testing a signature color described as dark cherry, a rich tone inspired by deep wine hues. If finalized, this finish is expected to be exclusive to the Pro lineup, including the iPhone 18 Pro Max, replacing the brighter and more playful shades seen in earlier generations.
While the new color is drawing attention, it is not the only option under consideration. Apple is also said to be experimenting with lighter blue tones, darker grey finishes, and a refined silver variant. However, since the devices are still in development, the final color lineup could change before production begins.
Beyond aesthetics, the upcoming models are likely to carry subtle design tweaks rather than a complete overhaul. One expected change is a smaller Dynamic Island, which could free up more usable screen space when inactive. Minor refinements to the rear camera layout are also being discussed, although details remain uncertain.
Performance upgrades appear to be more significant. The Pro models are rumored to feature Apple’s next generation A20 Pro chip, which could be built on an advanced 2 nanometer process. This shift may improve efficiency, boost speed, and enhance battery life. A new in house modem is also expected, potentially strengthening 5G performance and connectivity stability.
Camera improvements could once again play a major role in the upgrade cycle. Reports indicate that Apple might introduce a variable aperture system for the primary 48 megapixel sensor, allowing users to control the amount of light entering the lens. This feature could offer more flexibility for photography, particularly in challenging lighting conditions. On the front, a higher resolution selfie camera is also being considered.
Battery performance may see an upgrade as well, especially in the Pro Max variant, which is rumored to include a significantly larger battery. This could translate into longer usage times, an area where users consistently expect improvement.
Looking ahead, Apple’s broader roadmap hints at even bigger changes. Alongside the Pro models, the company is reportedly working on a foldable device, often referred to as iPhone Ultra, which could arrive around the same launch window. Meanwhile, standard models in the series may follow at a later stage.
