Government Flags Serious Security Risk for Apple Devices Affecting Millions of Users

Indian cyber agency warns of critical vulnerabilities in Apple ecosystem that could allow hackers to access personal data, bypass security layers, and even take full control of devices remotely

Millions of users relying on Apple devices for their daily digital needs may now be facing a serious security threat. In a recent advisory, the Indian government has raised concerns over multiple vulnerabilities found across Apple’s ecosystem, warning that attackers could exploit these flaws to access sensitive information or compromise devices.

The alert was issued by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, known as CERT In, which operates under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The agency categorized the issue as high severity, indicating a significant risk to users who have not updated or secured their devices properly.

According to the advisory released on March 26, the problem is not limited to a single bug. Instead, it stems from a combination of weaknesses spread across different parts of Apple’s operating systems. These include flaws in core system components as well as in built in security mechanisms, making the risk broader and more complex.

Experts warn that attackers could exploit these vulnerabilities in several ways. In some cases, malicious code could be executed on a device without the user’s knowledge. This could allow hackers to gain unauthorized access, bypass existing protections, and potentially take control of the device entirely.

The consequences could be severe. Personal data, including sensitive information such as banking details, may be exposed or stolen. Additionally, users may experience denial of service attacks, where their devices become unresponsive or unusable due to system disruptions caused by attackers.

The warning challenges the long held perception that Apple products are immune to major security threats. While the company is known for its strong security architecture, the presence of multiple vulnerabilities highlights that no system is completely risk free.

Authorities are urging users to remain cautious and ensure their devices are updated with the latest security patches. Regular software updates, avoiding suspicious links, and maintaining awareness of cybersecurity risks are being emphasized as key steps to reduce exposure.

As investigations continue, users are advised not to ignore the advisory, especially given the scale and seriousness of the issue affecting a wide range of Apple devices.
