HMD Crest 2 Pro Leak Suggests Big Battery and Premium Features at Budget Price
Upcoming HMD smartphone may offer 6000mAh battery, AMOLED display, high resolution cameras and smooth performance under Rs 20000, aiming to challenge popular budget brands in India

A new budget smartphone from HMD is already creating buzz ahead of its official debut, thanks to a series of leaked specifications. The device, expected to be called HMD Crest 2 Pro, could bring high end features to a price segment that usually comes with compromises.
One of the standout highlights of the upcoming phone is its massive battery. Reports suggest the device may feature a 6000mAh unit, potentially the largest ever seen in an HMD smartphone. Combined with support for 33W fast charging, the phone is expected to offer both long usage time and relatively quick top ups, making it suitable for heavy daily use.
Performance could also see a noticeable boost. The handset is likely to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, which is designed to handle everyday tasks such as streaming, social media and multitasking with ease. This positions the device as a reliable option for users who want smooth performance without spending heavily.
The display is another area where HMD appears to be focusing its efforts. Leaks point to a large 6.78 inch Full HD plus Super AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. This combination is expected to deliver vibrant visuals and fluid scrolling, enhancing both entertainment and gaming experiences in the budget category.
Camera capabilities could further strengthen its appeal. The rear setup is rumored to include a 64 megapixel primary sensor, supported by an 8 megapixel secondary lens and an additional 2 megapixel sensor. For selfies, the phone may feature a 50 megapixel front camera, which would be a significant offering at this price point and likely attract content creators and selfie enthusiasts.
In terms of design, the device is expected to retain the familiar look of the Crest series, including a square shaped camera module. While the overall appearance may not change drastically, minor refinements could give it a refreshed feel.
Pricing is where the phone could make its biggest impact. Early reports indicate that the device may launch in India for under Rs 20000. If that happens, it will go head to head with competitors from Xiaomi, Realme and Tecno, all of which have a strong presence in the affordable smartphone market.
While the specifications are based on leaks and not yet officially confirmed, the early details suggest that HMD is aiming to deliver a well rounded device that balances performance, battery life and camera capabilities. If priced aggressively, the Crest 2 Pro could become a strong contender in the budget segment and draw attention from value conscious buyers.
