Jio Drops Popular Budget Plan as Users Notice Disappearance from App

Reliance Jio appears to have removed its affordable 209 prepaid plan from the MyJio app leaving budget users uncertain while introducing high data plans aimed at heavy internet consumption

Reliance Jio users have been left surprised after a widely used budget prepaid option quietly disappeared from the company’s offerings. The 209 plan, once considered a go to choice for cost conscious subscribers, is no longer visible on the MyJio app, raising questions about its future.

According to recent reports, the plan was earlier listed under affordable packs in the value category on the app. However, users can no longer find it there, and the company has not issued any official confirmation regarding its withdrawal. This lack of clarity has only added to the uncertainty among subscribers who relied on this plan for everyday use.

The 209 prepaid plan held a unique place in Jio’s portfolio. It was the only plan offering 1GB of high speed data per day at such a low price point. With a validity of 22 days, it provided a total of 22GB data, along with unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS per day. Users also received access to JioTV and JioAICloud services as part of the package. Once the daily data limit was exhausted, speeds were reduced significantly for the rest of the day. Its effective daily cost made it especially attractive for users seeking basic internet needs without spending much.

While this affordable option seems to have vanished, Jio has shifted focus towards high data consumption plans. The company has introduced several prepaid packs offering up to 5GB of data per day, targeting users who rely heavily on mobile internet for streaming, gaming, and remote work.

One such option is the 699 plan, which comes with a validity of 28 days. It offers 5GB daily data along with additional bonus data, bringing the total to a significantly higher usage allowance. However, this plan does not include traditional calling and SMS benefits, marking a shift in how these new plans are structured.

For users looking for longer validity, Jio also offers a 2099 plan. This pack extends beyond its base validity with extra days added, providing nearly three months of service. It includes daily 5GB data along with additional bonus data, making it suitable for heavy users who prefer fewer recharges.

At the top end, the 4199 prepaid plan offers the longest duration among Jio’s current data heavy options. With extended validity and a large data pool, it is designed for those who want uninterrupted access over several months. Like the other high data plans, it also focuses purely on data benefits rather than combining them with calling and messaging services.

The removal of the 209 plan signals a noticeable shift in Jio’s prepaid strategy. While budget users may feel the gap left by its absence, the company appears to be prioritizing high data consumption trends. Whether the affordable plan will return remains uncertain, but for now, users will have to explore alternatives within the updated portfolio.
