Nothing rolls out OS 4.1 update to older smartphones with AI upgrades and faster performance
Users of Nothing and CMF devices begin receiving a major software refresh featuring AI tools, improved customization, smoother performance, and enhanced security across several existing smartphone models

Nothing has started pushing its latest Nothing OS 4.1 update to a wide range of smartphones, bringing a host of improvements focused on artificial intelligence, personalization, and overall system efficiency. Initially introduced with newer models, the update is now gradually reaching older devices as well, offering users a refreshed experience without requiring new hardware.
The rollout includes multiple devices across the lineup. Models such as Nothing Phone 3, Nothing Phone 3a, Nothing Phone 3a Pro, the Nothing Phone 2 series, and Nothing Phone 2a along with 2a Plus are part of the update cycle. Select smartphones under the CMF brand are also receiving the upgrade, expanding its reach beyond the core Nothing lineup.
Rather than introducing dramatic visual changes, the company has focused on refining everyday usability. The update emphasizes smoother performance, faster app launches, and better system stability. Users may notice improved responsiveness in daily tasks along with enhanced battery efficiency. Video and audio call quality have also been optimized, making communication clearer and more reliable.
One of the highlights of the update is the introduction of AI powered features. The new AI Eraser tool allows users to remove unwanted elements from photos quickly, even without an internet connection. This feature is designed to simplify photo editing while maintaining speed and convenience.
Customization has also been improved, especially on the lock screen. Users can now personalize their lock screens with greater flexibility, including new depth effects that add a more dynamic visual feel. The update also introduces enhancements to the Glyph Interface, enabling real time updates such as delivery tracking or ride status to appear through lighting notifications.
Another addition is the ability to create custom ringtones using AI tools, giving users more control over how their device sounds. These small but practical features reflect Nothing’s focus on making devices feel more personal and interactive.
Security has not been overlooked. The update includes the April 2026 security patch, ensuring better protection against emerging cyber threats. This makes the upgrade not only feature rich but also important from a safety standpoint.
Users can check for the update by heading to the Settings menu, selecting Software Update, and tapping Download and Install. As the rollout is happening in phases, some users may need to wait before it becomes available on their devices.
With Nothing OS 4.1, the company is clearly aiming to extend the life and usability of its existing smartphones, delivering meaningful improvements that enhance both performance and everyday user experience.
