Tecno Pop X Debuts at Rs 7749 with No Network Calling and Rugged Design

Budget smartphone buyers have a new option to consider as Tecno has introduced the Tecno Pop X in India. Positioned as an entry level device, the phone combines practical features with a competitive price tag, aiming to attract first time users and those looking for a dependable secondary handset.

The standout feature of the Pop X is its ability to enable calling without a cellular network. The device supports a no network communication feature that allows users to connect with other compatible devices within a range of up to 1.5 kilometers. This could prove useful in low signal areas or emergency situations where regular connectivity fails.

Tecno has also focused on durability. The company claims the phone has undergone more than 25000 drop tests to ensure it can withstand accidental falls. With an IP64 rating, the handset is protected against dust and minor water splashes. Tecno further promises up to four years of lag free performance, adding confidence for long term use.

On the front, the Pop X features a 6.75 inch HD plus LCD display with a resolution of 720 by 1600 pixels. The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate, delivering smoother scrolling and a better viewing experience compared to typical budget phones in this segment.

Under the hood, the smartphone runs on a 12nm Unisoc T7250 octa core processor paired with 4GB LPDDR4x RAM and 64GB eMMC storage. It operates on Android 15 with the company HiOS 15 interface. The device supports dual SIM functionality and offers standard connectivity options including 4G LTE, Wi Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS and USB Type C. A 3.5mm headphone jack is also included.

For photography, the rear setup includes a 13MP primary camera with an f 1.85 aperture, accompanied by a secondary sensor. An 8MP front camera handles selfies and video calls. The phone also supports several AI based features such as AI noise reduction, AI document scanning and AI song identification. An IR transmitter allows the device to function as a remote control for compatible home appliances.

Powering the handset is a 5000mAh battery with support for 15W charging, while a 10W adapter is included in the box. A side mounted fingerprint scanner ensures quick biometric access.

The Tecno Pop X is priced at Rs 8499 for the sole 4GB and 64GB variant. However, with eligible HDFC bank card offers, buyers can purchase it at an effective price of Rs 7749. The smartphone will be available in Chili Green and Flair White colors and goes on sale from March 6 via Amazon and select retail outlets.

With its rare no network calling feature and rugged build, the Pop X aims to deliver more than just basic functionality in the budget category.
