Xiaomi Unveils 17T Series With Massive Batteries and Leica Cameras

Xiaomi has introduced the new 17T and 17T Pro smartphones featuring high refresh rate AMOLED displays powerful MediaTek processors Leica tuned cameras and large batteries with fast charging support globally.

Xiaomi has officially expanded its premium smartphone lineup with the launch of the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro. The two new devices were unveiled in the company’s home market and are already attracting attention for their flagship style features, sleek designs and powerful battery setups. Xiaomi has also confirmed that the standard Xiaomi 17T will arrive in the Indian market on June 4.

Both smartphones share several premium features, including AMOLED displays, Leica tuned camera systems and advanced AI software tools. However, the Pro version brings a few extra upgrades for users looking for top tier performance and photography capabilities.

The Xiaomi 17T Pro features a large 6.83 inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and ultra slim bezels. The regular Xiaomi 17T comes with a slightly smaller 6.59 inch AMOLED panel that supports up to 120Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi claims both displays can reach peak brightness levels of up to 3500 nits and support Dolby Vision for an enhanced viewing experience. Gorilla Glass 7i protection is also included on both models for better durability.

Under the hood, Xiaomi has equipped the 17T Pro with the flagship grade MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor built on a 3nm architecture. Meanwhile, the standard 17T runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset. Both devices include 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and fast UFS 4.1 storage, making them capable of handling gaming, multitasking and demanding apps smoothly. To manage heat during heavy usage, Xiaomi has added its 3D IceLoop vapor chamber cooling technology in both smartphones.

Photography is another major highlight of the new series. Xiaomi has continued its partnership with Leica to improve image quality and camera performance. Both phones feature a 50 megapixel 5x periscope telephoto camera along with a 12 megapixel ultra wide lens and a 32 megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls.

The main sensor differs between the two models. The Xiaomi 17T Pro gets a larger Light Fusion 950 sensor for improved low light photography, while the regular 17T uses the slightly smaller Light Fusion 800 sensor. Xiaomi has also introduced a feature called Leica Live Moment that records a short video clip alongside photos, offering an experience similar to live photos.

Battery performance is expected to be one of the strongest selling points of the series. The Xiaomi 17T Pro packs a massive 7000mAh battery with support for 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The standard Xiaomi 17T includes a 6500mAh battery with 67W fast charging support. Both phones also support reverse wired charging.

The smartphones run on HyperOS 3 based software and include several AI powered features such as AI writing tools, speech recognition, dynamic wallpapers, circle to search and Gemini AI integration. Xiaomi appears to be focusing heavily on combining hardware performance with smart software features to improve the overall user experience.

In terms of connectivity and durability, both devices come with IP68 certification for dust and water resistance, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, NFC and Bluetooth 6.0. The Pro variant additionally supports WiFi 7, while the standard model offers WiFi 6E connectivity.

Xiaomi has launched the 17T series in multiple color options. The standard model is available in Violet Opal White Blue and Black shades, while the Pro version comes in Deep Blue Deep Violet and Black finishes. Pricing for the Xiaomi 17T starts at EUR 749, while the 17T Pro starts at EUR 899 for the base configuration.
